Diwali DIY

Sitting by the window and sipping hot chai and looking out to a lush green environment is what all of us want to do in our free time. But when i look out of my window i see a concrete jungle and so i choose to take my cuppa to my TV room and watch TV instead. It is indeed sad that our natural resources are getting depleted. 

This Diwali i have made it a point to Go Green and do my bit. I have made use of old glass jars( which i would generally through away) and i am using them as my candle holders. Here is how I got them made.! You can make them at home too..

These are jars of sauces, teas, pickles and nutella which were first cleaned and their stickers removed. We then got rid of the metal lids and used left over stain glass paint to colour them in different colours. 

                                   

 


After a few coats of paint the jars looked pretty and colourful after which we added the coir thin ropes around the neck to give it a rustic feel and of course to add the glamour quotient we added some coloured stones and little bells (ghungroos) to the bottles.

 Just by adding a candle inside completed my candle jars. I have placed a tea-light, you can place block/tall candles as you wish. 

This entire project was done by 'Nilesh' who is a young boy with special needs. He is a victim of Polio but very good with art. If you do not want to do this yourself or want to support him by buying any of these we would be happy to ship them to you.

THE GARDEN LIFE - EITHER OR

Many of us in Pune are aware and are a fan of the store called EITHER OR located in the heart of the city at Sohrab hall. This has been one of my favorite places not just to shop but also to witness and experience creativity at its best. They house selected collections of lifestyle products, gifts, garments, jewelry and home linen. 

From products made of local arts and crafts to contemporary chic urban decor they house a variety of products,i could spend hours browsing through their collection and just being in the space as it emits such positive energy and has some of the most welcoming and warm staff and i assure you, you will not walk out empty handed.

Being the first store in Pune to launch many lifestyle brands it has completed more than 15 years and is constantly rejuvenating itself with new products. It almost feels that the thirst for designed products is insatiable for the store. 

We are extremely lucky to showcase our autumn -festive collection at the store. They called the collection - THE GARDEN LIFE

LAUGH LOVE & LIVE

I am not a writer of any sort and the blogging world is very new to me but i do pen down my thoughts and love to read because it gives me perspective ! In our daily lives we get used to the routine and our actions and reactions to things become our pattern, soon we start believing and living in our little worlds. Reading blogs is so refreshing it gives me an insight on how each of us perceive things differently ! 
Some time back i came across a beautiful quote "LAUGH as much as you breathe and LOVE as much as LIVE." This is the very essence of life and in the hustle of daily living i had somewhere forgotten it. I decided to make a few products  which will constantly remind us to LAUGH LOVE & LIVE. 
Here are few images of the products i developed.

Cushion covers with screen prints of the three magical words ( yes you read it right :)) in refreshing spring colours, one can throw them around on the couch or the bed and for sure they would serve as a reminder .

Bare walls is surely not my thing i love to highlight them with something beautiful all the time. These frames fit in perfectly on an empty ledge that i had. Apart from being an eye candy they are also 'a gentle reminder'.

Well one for my hand bag too ! I believe that i am an old soul so no matter how tech savvy i get and the gadgets i posses i will never give up on pen and paper. Making notes, jotting down inspirations, documenting quotes and of course i try my hand at doodling once in a while, so this is an absolute necessity . And  what more can i ask for when my book has a cover like this !!

Valentine's day !!

Its been exactly one year since i have been thinking to start my blog and i finally get around to doing it !! Out of the many resolutions for the year starting my blog has been on the top of the list and the start of the second month i finally get to do it.. its not quite bad actually !

Firstly a little bit about myself ; An interior designer by profession i ventured into manufacturing home furnishings alongside my interior work. Gradually i drifted completely away from interiors into designing and decorating homes with furnishings, upholstery and artifacts ! 

This journey got me meeting many designers from my field who excelled in their fields of design and there was the birth of my store FULCRUM, housing works of many designers who tell stories and tales through their products. I am in complete love with what they make and i am sure you will love their work too !!

Since we are talking about love what better time to start than the month of Feb when LOVE is in the air ! Valentine's day is just around the corner and all of us look for gifts and ways to make our loved ones know how much we love them, so here is my selection of gifts which i think is a meaningful and fun way of telling them what they mean to you !!
