My 7 day Detox

During the past year my physical body was crying for help, my skin was revolting, I was loosing enough hair by the day to be alarmed!
I had started to become snappy and emotionally vulnerable and my peace had started getting affected. I realized that I had neglected my Self for sometime, and I felt an imbalance in my life.
This year I thought i needed a time check and I needed to bring about some kind of balance.
The first step I thought was to Detox myself. To Detox every aspect will be ongoing so to start with I drafted a 7 day Detox program for myself which focuses on the physical detox through diet and exercise and also interlaced it with some skin care and emotional detox.

I laid out a chart for each day for the next 7 days.
I am going to share with you what I exactly did and followed in these 7 days and also what worked and what did not.
So here we go.
Every day I started the day with a cup of warm water with a squeeze of lemon. I am supposed to use half a lemon but it becomes too tart so I went by taste. Lemon juice is very high in Vitamin C and gets the digestive juices going.

For breakfast everyday I focused on eating fruit and yogurt in many forms. A few things that I ate were
- Coconut, banana and almond smoothie with figs.

A bowl of assorted fruits with yogurt and some muesli with almonds. I would highly recommend this for breakfast as it tastes delicious and it fills you up for a longer period.

- I did try a few different smoothies and one day I decided to make an apple pie ;) that’s what I named this smoothie. It was an apple, cinnamon and almond smoothie. I made it with yogurt but I recommend you to use almond milk and honey!

For lunch I focused on eating salads and raw vegetables. Salads are delicious and I love them in general so this was a totally doable thing for me and I sure loved it. Here are some of the salads and their quick recipes .

Arugula, prawn and beet (boiled) salad with a little feta. Throw these ingredients (the prawns were steamed) and add some vinegar, salt and pepper and a little olive oil. ( omit the oil as much as possible and if possible substitute the vinegar with lemons.)

Watermelon, lettuce and walnut salad. Some roughly chopped lettuce, watermelon slices and broken walnuts and drizzle it with balsamic vinegar or just lemon juice, some salt and pepper.

Greek salad with a slight twist. Lots of roughly chopped lettuce, some olives, onions and green peppers with some lemon and salt and pepper. I did slice some paneer pieces instead of feta .

Phew that's a lot of food talk ... snacks and dinner will follow in the next post.

A few things that I did along with following the diet was to take some time to exercise. I invested sometime in cardio everyday like walking, cycling, rowing and lots of stretching. Since toxins are released in every form with this change of diet it is a good idea to sweat it out a little.
Another MAJOR thing that has to be taken care of is fluid and water intake. It is recommended that you have atleast 4lts of water and fluids everyday to flush the toxins out.

Stay tuned for the next post on what i ate for snacks and dinner and also what are the things that worked and what did not and what are the things i am continuing to do.

Leave me a comment if you have undergone a detox diet and the things that worked for you !
